Piotr Wolański
Bulletin of the Institute of Heat Engineering , 1984,
Abstract: The review of a dust ignition behind the sho,ck wave, initiation of a detonation as well as a structure and the detonation limit in an organic dust-air mixture, is presented.
INERT PARTICLES INFLUENCE ON GASEOUS DETONATION PROCESSES
Marek Woliński,Piotr Wolański
Bulletin of the Institute of Heat Engineering , 1986,
Abstract: The paper presents results of studies of influence of relatively large chemically inert particles dispersed in a gaseous mixture on transition to detonation processes and on detonation combustion. It has been found out that these particles cause acceleration of transition from deflagration to detonation, and reduce the detonation velocity.A physical model of the transition to detonation and propagation of the detonation under such conditions has been presented. Also mathematical model allowing determination of velocity of the detonation wave has been proposed.
FLAME STRUCTURE IN HOMOGENEOUS AND HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURES NEAR THE LEAN FLAMMABILITY LIMIT
Rudolf Klemens,Tomasz Pancewicz,Piotr Wolański
Bulletin of the Institute of Heat Engineering , 1985,
Abstract: In this work the structure and the mechanism of the flame propagation in gas dust and dust-gas mixtures near the flammability limit was studied. Experiments were conducted mainly in a rectangular duot of dimensions 0,035 x 0,088 m2 and in length 1,2 m. Interferometrio cinematography as well as direct frame, streak and compensation photography were used for this study. Temperature measurements with a resistance thermometer were also conducted. Lignite dust were used in tests and in hybrid mixtures technical me theme was used as the gaseous fuel. It was found that dust and dust-gas flames under the same testing conditions have a very different structure than gas flames. The simplified model of flame propagation in dust-air mixtures at conditions close to the lean limit is presented on the basis of the conducted experiments.
DETONATION STRUCTURE OF ORGANIC DUSTS-OXYGEN MIXTURES

Bulletin of the Institute of Heat Engineering , 1986,
Abstract: The deflagration to detonation transition process as well as the structure of detonation were studied in vertical tubes for organic dust-oxygen mixtures (wood dust, brown and black coal dusts). Two vertioal tubes were used: one with rectangularcross-section of 0.05 m and with the length of 3.2 m and the other with circular oross-section of 0.08 m and the length of 4.5 m. Weak initiation souroes, i.e. exploding wire, weak eleotric arc or electrical fuse heads were applied. It was found that transition to detonation was gradual for all mixtures. In some cases, however, the ignition spots were visible ahead of original flame front. Retonation waves were not observed. Recorded detonation velocities are within the range of 1550 m/s to 2160 m/s.The detonation structure was examined by means of pressure measurements, recording of the radiation emission in threedifferent wavelengths and by direct streak photography. It was found that a few pressure peaks were usually present in the detonation front; the distanoe between the leading shock and C - J plane varied from 5 cm to 15 cm and the mаximum temperature did not exceed 2900 K.In the case of highly reacting brown coal dust sticking initially to the tube walls, the quasi-detonation combustion was also observed.
Robust Image Registration Based on Mutual Information Measure  [PDF]
Witold Kosiński, Pawe? Michalak, Piotr Gut
Journal of Signal and Information Processing (JSIP) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jsip.2012.32023
Abstract: A new implementation of the image registration algorithm based on the mutual information is presented for the case of medical images. The registration is achieved if the maximum of the mutual information is attained. In this maximization process optimal values of five parameters of an affine transformation are searched.
Finite Element Method Computations of the Acoustics of the Human Head Based on the Projection Based Interpolation Data  [PDF]

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics (JAMP) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jamp.2014.212119
Abstract:

In this paper we present the Projection Based Interpolation (PBI) technique for construction of continuous approximation of MRI scan data of the human head. We utilize the result of the PBI algorithm to perform three dimensional (3D) Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations of the acoustics of the human head. The computational problem is a multi-physics problem modeled as acoustics coupled with linear elasticity. The computational grid contains tetrahedral finite elements with the number of equations and polynomial orders of approximation varying locally on finite element edges, faces, and interiors. We utilize our own out-of-core parallel direct solver for the solution of this multi-physics problem. The solver minimizes the memory usage by dumping out all local systems from all nodes of the entire elimination tree during the elimination phase.

Boehmians on manifolds
Piotr Mikusiński
International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences , 2000, DOI: 10.1155/s0161171200004762
Abstract: The construction of Boehmians on a manifold requires a commutative convolution structure. We present such constructions in two specific cases: an N-dimensional torus and an N-dimensional sphere. Then we formulate conditions under which a construction of Boehmians on a manifold is possible.

Dermatology Eponyms – phenomen / sign –Lexicon (E)
Brzeziński Piotr
Our Dermatology Online , 2011,
Abstract: Eponyms are used almost daily in the clinical practice of dermatology. And yet, information about the person behind the eponyms is difficult to find. Indeed, who is? What is this person's nationality? Is this person alive or dead? How can one find the paper in which this person first described the disease? Eponyms are used to describe not only disease, but also clinical signs, surgical procedures, staining techniques, pharmacological formulations, and even pieces of equipment. In this article we present the symptoms starting with (E). The symptoms and their synonyms, and those who have described this symptom or phenomenon.
CORYNEBACTERIUM TRIAD IN SOLDIERS
Brzeziński Piotr
Our Dermatology Online , 2010,
Abstract: Background: Corynebacterial infection is a common condition in soldiers. Pitted keratolysis (PK), a bacterial infection confined to the plantar stratum corneum, does not severely impede patient activity but can be unpleasant and embarrassing because of its ‘‘rotten’’ odor. The incidence of PK in soldiers has been reported to be between 1,5% and 77.1%. Erythrasma is a superficial infection caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum and affects the major skin folds and the interdigital regions of the feet. It is characterized by erythematous, brown, scaly patches and maceration, and exhibits coral-red fluorescence under Wood light. Trichomycosis axillaris (TMA) is caused by the Corynebacterium tenuis. Patients affected by trichomycosis axillaris present with complaints of a disagreeable underarm odor and a history of hyperhidrosis and poor hygiene. Examination reveals the underarm hair to be coated with black, yellow-white or reddish deposits. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the frequency corynebacterium triad in soldiers (pitted keratolysis, erythrasma, trichomycosis axillaris)Methods: The study involved 1694 men, soldiers in age about 23 years, (in period 5 months (-8-12.2008)). 103 persons, whose dermatologic symptoms/changes were analysed, were qualified for the research. Reconnaissance put on base of characteristic clinical sign and under Wood light. Results: Incidence of PK observed at 103 patients (which make up 6,08% of 1694 soldiers). EA diagnosed at 15 soldiers (14,56% of 103 patients), and TMA was diagnosed of 3 patients (2,91% of 103 patients). The coexistence are summarized as follows: erythrasma and PK; 15 of 103 patients (14,56%), TMA and PK in 3 of 103 patients (2,91%). The coexistence of rythrasma, TMA, and PK was noted in 1 patients (0,97%).Conclusions: Corynebacterial infection is a common condition in soldiers. In most cases/most often development of PK is observed. Our results demonstrate that either erythrasma or TMA can be associated with PK. We suggest that a closer, wider inspection is required to rule out the coexistence of the other. corynebacterial infections (Erythrasma, TMN) when a dermatologist encounters PK.
